Active Isolate Stretching (AIS) is a method of muscle lengthening and fascial release developed by Aaron Mattes. Active stretching is less traumatic for the body. Static stretching can decrease the blood flow to the muscles and potentially cause inflammation and lactic acid build up. The AIS technique only holds stretches for 2 seconds, but will repeat the stretch multiple times,

gradually increasing the length of the fibers, this method doesn’t trigger the protective reflex and doesn’t cause trauma

to the muscle fibers.
